Bracing
is the installation of either cable or nylon systems between the main
leaders (stems) of the tree or between a limb and a stem, giving support
or extra strength to a weak joint. This is used in heavy lateral limbs.
Installing bracing systems, is a preventative measure
or support to a stem split or weak union, such as included bark.
Included
bark is one common fault in trees, this is where two co-dormant stems
grow together thus pursing against each other and forming a weakness.
If this is detected in the nursery when being grown this can be pruned
out, but in mature or semi-mature trees it is not normally possible.
Picture Right: This is an example of included
co-dormant stems.
Bracing Systems can be installed as a safety/preventive
measure for large trees in Schools, Colleges and High Public used areas.
Bracing systems are used with proper pruning techniques, weight reducing,
thinning these all distribute the weight evenly.
With
modern materials there is no need to drill holes through the stems.
When modern strapping/webbing methods are used this eliminates the damage
to the trees structure. Either using the Cobra Bracing System or the
High Tensile Steel Cable these systems give increase safety in areas
of the tree where it is needed for either support or strength. All materials
are C.E.marked and have safe working margins.
Eastwood
Tree Services Ltd trained operatives can install these systems unintrusively
high up in the canopy not detracting from the tree's appearance, but
safe in the knowledge these systems are doing there job.
Eastwood
Tree Services Ltd also offer an Inspection Service, this is carried
out by professional climbers. This should be carried out once a year.
